The composer, end to end
The composer is where nearly everything in Metir starts. It looks like an ordinary message box, and its placeholder tells you the two shortcuts that matter: type @ to attach something, or / to run a skill.
Good afternoon
Tip: mention a meeting with @ to draft its follow-up
- The text box, where everything starts
- The category chip sets how strong a model answers
- The model chip names the exact model
- The microphone dictates a message
- The plus holds files, research and connectors
- Send
The text box
It is a rich text box, so pasted content keeps its structure. Enter sends and ShiftEnter starts a new line. Pasting a file attaches it rather than pasting its name.
The toolbar, left to right
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Category chip | Sets how strong a model answers: Auto, Smart, Expert, Genius or Image. See choosing a model. |
| Model chip | Names the exact model. Only shown when the category is not Auto. |
| Microphone | Dictates a message. See dictation. |
| Plus | Files, research, artifacts, connectors and Amnesia. See attaching files. |
| Send | Sends the message. Appears once there is something to send. |
The two shortcuts
Typing @ opens a picker over everything in your Workspace, and typing / at the start of a message opens the skills picker. Both become green chips inside your sentence once chosen. See mentions and skills.
Chips above the box
Attached files, mentioned items and the Deep Research pill all sit above the text box. Each one has a small cross that removes it, so you can always see exactly what a message will carry.
