Asking a question of everything you have
Ask or find starts as a quick search across Knowledge and can become a research conversation that tells you where each part of an answer came from.
Knowledge

Save as note or Open full page
- Ask or find opens from the Knowledge header
- Matching notes and files appear while you type
- Research turns the query into a scoped conversation

Asking
Choose Ask or find and start typing to find matching notes and files immediately. The scope defaults to All knowledge and can be narrowed. Once narrowed, the trigger reads Ask followed by the scope name. Press Enter or choose Research to turn the query into a conversation over the accessible, indexed items in that scope.
Reading the answer
It cites the notes and files it used, so you can check it. See reading a research answer.
Saving it
Choose Save as note to keep the answer, or Open full page to continue with more room. See notes.
On mobile
Ask or find starts with the same immediate search. Starting Research opens the full conversation page instead of keeping the research chat in the search window.
Ask compared with Deep Research in chat
Ask or find begins in Knowledge and keeps the selected Knowledge scope. Deep Research in chat begins from a conversation and a perimeter you choose. Both can support follow-up questions. See what Deep Research is.
