What Deep Research is
Deep Research is for questions whose answer is spread across a folder or a larger set of files. You choose what belongs in the research boundary, wait until the selected items are ready, and ask questions in the same composer you already use for chat.

How it differs from attaching files

Turning it on
Press the plus button and choose Deep Research. Select files or folders, then choose Review & index (N). The next screen shows the selected items as Complete, In progress, Waiting or Failed. When all selected items are ready, choose Add to chat (N). See choosing your perimeter for the complete walkthrough.
Asking a useful question
Start with the outcome you need. Try “Summarise the main decisions in this folder”, “Compare the forecasts across these files”, or “Which documents support this claim?”. You can follow up without selecting the same files again because the Deep Research boundary stays with the conversation. Source chips under the answer show which documents supported it. It stays on
Once a conversation has a perimeter, every message uses it. The composer shows a blue Deep Research pill with a count. Choose the pill to turn the mode off and clear the whole selection. For a small one-message question instead, use file attachments.
When a big upload turns into a research run
If your full-file selection reaches the message limit, Metir offers Deep Research so you can keep adding files. Your existing selection moves into the review step, where you can check its status before adding it to the chat.
