What Deep Research is
Deep Research is what you use when the answer is spread across more documents than any single message could hold. You choose a set of files or folders, and Metir researches them properly: searching, reading, cross-referencing, and going back for more until it can answer.

Turning it on
Press the plus button, choose Deep Research, then pick the files or folders. See choosing what it reads.
What it actually does
- Builds a map of what is in the set, so it knows what it is dealing with.
- Searches two ways: by exact wording, and by meaning. Each catches things the other misses.
- Skims summaries to decide which documents are worth reading in full.
- Reads the parts that matter, rather than everything.
- Splits large documents across several agents so nothing gets skimmed. See agent swarms.
It stays on
Once a conversation has a perimeter, every message uses it. The composer shows a blue Deep Research pill with a count. Tapping that pill turns it off, which clears the whole perimeter.
When a big upload turns into a research run
If you attach more than fits in one message, Metir moves the files into a research run rather than failing. You do not have to do anything.
