Reading a research answer
A Deep Research answer is designed to be checked and continued. Read the answer first, use its source chips to open the supporting documents, then ask a follow-up in the same conversation while the selected research boundary is still active.

Start with the answer
The main response brings the findings together in one place. Headings, lists and tables make longer results easier to scan, while the wording should distinguish clear evidence from uncertainty. If a statement matters to your decision, follow its source before acting on it. See reading a response for the other details a reply can contain.
Source chips
Documents used for the answer appear as source chips. Open one to inspect the supporting file, then return to the conversation without losing your place. A chip shows that a document contributed to the response. It does not mean every sentence in that document agrees with the conclusion.
Following a claim back
Find the claim in the answer, open the relevant source chip, and compare the wording with the document. If the connection is unclear, ask “Which source supports this point?” or “Show the evidence for this conclusion.” The existing Deep Research boundary remains available for that follow-up.
When the answer says it could not find something
That can be a real result rather than a failed run. The selected documents might not contain the information, or the perimeter might not include the right files. Return to the picker, check the selection, and widen or change it if needed. See choosing your perimeter.
Continue in the same chat
Ask for a shorter summary, a comparison table, a list of open questions, or a draft based on the findings. The blue Deep Research pill shows that the boundary is still active. Choose it to clear the selection before changing topics. For a one-off question about only a few files, use attachments instead.
Saving the answer
Keep the conversation in your chat history, or copy the conclusion into one of your notes when you want a shorter reference beside the rest of your work. Keep the source names with important claims so the saved summary remains easy to verify.
