Making a document
Reports, proposals, briefs and memos come out as formatted document files beside the conversation. You can read the rendered pages, switch into a direct editor, or ask for changes in chat.
Northwind status
Northwind has agreed a phased October rollout.
The commercial terms are unchanged from the original agreement, including the annual renewal cycle.
Delivery depends on the data clause clearing legal review, which is scheduled for Friday.
Risks
The renewal notice window closes before the forecast assumes the uplift.
Saved changes create a new version
- Say what it is and who it is for
- It opens as a real Word document
- Edit switches the document into direct editing
- Preview returns to the finished document
- Saved changes create a new version
Asking for one
Name the document type, the audience and the source material. "A one-page status note for the exec team" produces something quite different from "a detailed project report". Mention the source or add it through file attachments, and say which sections or decisions the document must cover.
Edit and preview
On the Website, choose Edit in the pane header. The editor lets you change paragraph text and styles, formatting, links and tables, and add paragraphs, images or page breaks. Use the visible Save action for your changes. While editing, the header action changes to Preview; choose it to return to the rendered pages.
On mobile, choose Edit from the document viewer. Make the changes you need, then choose Save (N). Returning to the viewer reloads the updated preview. You can also use Share or Open in browser from the viewer.
Changing it in chat
Ask for broader changes when that is faster: tighten a section, add a heading, change the tone, or restructure the whole report. Each saved direct edit and each completed chat edit creates a new version, so you can reopen an earlier one. See reading a response for where created files appear in the conversation.
Downloading
Choose Download to keep the document file outside Metir. Save direct edits before downloading so the file contains the current version.
Working from your own material
Attach or mention the source first. See attaching files, or use Deep Research when the source is a whole folder.
