Giving a Blob a routine
A routine is something a Blob does regularly without being asked each time: a Monday briefing, a nightly triage, a weekly check on what has gone quiet.
Routines
Then results arrive in the thread
- Routines run on a schedule or on demand
- Dry run it first
- It shows what it would have done
- Then results arrive in the thread
Two kinds
- On a schedule, it runs at a time you set.
- When you ask, it sits there until you trigger it.
Creating one
Open the Blob's work view, add a routine, describe what it should do, and choose whether it runs on a schedule or on demand.
Trying it safely
Run it as a dry run first. It shows you what it would have done without doing any of it. Do this before turning on anything that sends or spends.
Turning it on and off
Turn on and Turn off on the routine itself. Turning one off does not delete it.
Where the results go
Into the Blob's thread, so a routine reads like a message from a colleague rather than a log file.
Routines compared with reminders
A reminder tells you to do something. A routine is a standing job for a teammate who exercises judgement, does the work, and comes back with the result.
