Reports Oct 20, 2026.
Consensus is $1.75 EPS for Sep 2026 across 5 estimates, ranging $1.72 to $1.80.
RTX’s second quarter was a broad-based demand and execution print, with adjusted EPS of $1.89 beating the $1.66 consensus by 13.86% and rising 21% from $1.56 in Q2 2025. Reported sales of $24.71 billion increased 14% year over year, while operating income rose 31% to $2.81 billion and net income attributable to common shareowners increased 29% to $2.14 billion. Relative to Q1 2026, sales increased from $22.08 billion and operating income from $2.56 billion, while net income rose modestly from $2.06 billion.
The defining feature was growth across all three businesses, supported by commercial aerospace aftermarket demand and defense volume. Raytheon delivered the strongest segment growth, while Pratt’s aftermarket and military expansion more than offset weaker commercial OE. Collins also expanded margins despite divestiture headwinds. Cash conversion was a major improvement, with $2.88 billion of free cash flow versus negative $72 million a year ago. With backlog up 22% to $289 billion and strong first-half performance, RTX raised its sales, organic growth, adjusted EPS, and free cash flow outlook for 2026. GAAP results remained below adjusted results because of $474 million of acquisition accounting adjustments and $75 million of restructuring costs.
RTX raised each of the principal 2026 adjusted financial targets, reflecting first-half performance and the company’s $289 billion backlog. The updated outlook implies continued growth, though the reported quarter also included sizable adjustments between GAAP and adjusted earnings.
The quarter showed unusually balanced momentum across aerospace and defense. Consolidated organic sales increased 16%, with approximately $1.3 billion of organic growth each from Pratt & Whitney and Raytheon and $1.0 billion from Collins.
Cash generation was a major improvement over the prior-year quarter and supported the higher full-year free cash flow outlook. Consolidated operating execution also produced meaningful reported margin expansion.
RTX continued to reshape the portfolio while carrying several ongoing non-operating and compliance matters. The quarter included a $69 million litigation charge in adjusted reconciliations, but management excluded it from its view of ongoing operating performance.
