Apple Q3 2026 Earnings: Record Revenue, Siri AI Still Fall-Bound

Apple's Q3 FY2026 earnings hit a record $109.4B, yet shares fell as guidance disappointed and the redesigned Siri AI remains a fall 2026 promise. A neutral look at the numbers and the AI timeline.

Apple Q3 2026 Earnings: Record Revenue, Siri AI Still Fall-Bound

Apple's Q3 fiscal 2026 earnings, reported on July 30, 2026, delivered a genuine record: $109.4 billion in revenue, up 16% year over year, the strongest June quarter in the company's history. Net profit reached $29.8 billion, up 27% from $23.43 billion a year earlier, and earnings per share climbed 29% to $2.02 from $1.57. Both revenue and adjusted EPS beat Wall Street's estimates. Shares still fell sharply after hours, dropping roughly 6.65% in late trading and opening down close to 10% the next day. The gap between a beat-and-raise quarter and a falling stock is the story worth unpacking, and so is the second thread running through the call: Tim Cook confirming that the redesigned, AI-powered Siri is still a fall 2026 promise, arriving in a market where rivals ship new models on a near-monthly cadence.

Record revenue, record profit, same June quarter a year apart

Apple's fiscal Q3 (the June quarter), in billions of dollars. Revenue rose 16% year over year to a June-quarter record; net profit rose 27% to $29.8B.

EPS grew from $1.57 to $2.02, a 29% increase, on 22% iPhone unit growth. Apple's September-quarter guidance of 9-11% growth, given on the same call, came in below the roughly 12% analysts expected.

The quarter's operating performance was broadly strong: iPhone revenue rose on 22% unit growth, and Apple beat both its own and analysts' revenue expectations. The soft spot was services, which came in at $30.74 billion against roughly $31.22 billion expected, and the September-quarter guidance of 9% to 11% revenue growth, below the roughly 12% Wall Street had modeled. Apple attributed the guidance gap to intensifying supply constraints and rising component costs, describing a "100-year flood" of DRAM and NAND price increases as AI data centers pull memory-chip supply away from consumer electronics, alongside a 2.5-point currency headwind. Gross margin guidance of 47% to 48% included a one-point benefit from tariff refunds, a reminder that trade policy is now a recurring line item in Apple's forecasts, not a one-time disruption.

Why the AI timeline matters to the stock reaction

“

There are enormous opportunities for Apple moving forward in AI.

Tim Cook, Apple CEO, Q3 FY2026 earnings call

Supply and margin pressure explain most of the guidance miss, but the call also surfaced a second, less quantifiable concern: whether Apple's approach to AI, leaning on a partner's model rather than building a frontier system in-house, is a durable strategy or a stopgap. Cook framed Apple's approach as deliberately hybrid, telling analysts that running a meaningful share of requests on-device is "very strategic and sort of a competitive weapon," distinct from the cloud-first approach most AI labs use. That framing matters because it is Apple's explicit answer to a question investors keep asking: if Apple isn't racing to train its own frontier model, what is its AI thesis? The answer on this call was privacy-preserving on-device processing plus a licensed frontier model for anything heavier, rather than owning the model layer outright.

Siri AI: built with Google, arriving this fall

From partnership to public promise: Siri AI's path to fall 2026

Roughly seven months separate the Google partnership announcement from the fall 2026 release Tim Cook confirmed on the Q3 earnings call.

  6. Fall 2026
    General release, with gaps
Siri AI ships with iOS 27 alongside new iPhone hardware in most markets; EU iPhone/iPad and China availability lag behind.

The redesigned Siri, rebuilt around a custom 1.2-trillion-parameter version of Google's Gemini, was unveiled at WWDC26 on June 8, 2026, moved to developer beta immediately afterward, and opened to public beta testers on July 13, 2026, about two weeks before the earnings call. Cook confirmed on the call that Siri AI reaches users generally this fall, expected alongside new iPhone hardware in September. The new Siri can reportedly follow up on earlier questions, read what's on a user's screen, search personal content like messages and photos, and act across multiple apps rather than handling single, isolated commands.

The regulatory geography of an AI rollout

One product, four different regulatory timelines

Siri AI's rollout is not a single global launch date. Where it ships next depends as much on regulatory approval as on Apple's own engineering schedule.

United States and most markets
On track for fall 2026

Siri AI ships with iOS 27 and new iPhone hardware in September, following developer and public betas.

European Union (iPhone, iPad)
Delayed, no date set

Apple and the European Commission did not reach agreement on Digital Markets Act interoperability terms; Apple's proposed 18-month exemption was rejected.

European Union (Mac, Vision Pro, Watch)
Unaffected

macOS, visionOS and watchOS are not classified as DMA gatekeeper platforms, so Siri AI proceeds on those devices in the EU.

China
Partial, Siri AI not yet included

Regulators cleared select on-device Apple Intelligence features (built with Alibaba's Qwen model), such as Clean Up. Cook said Siri AI 'needs more work going forward.'

Siri AI's rollout is not one global launch date, it is several. In the European Union, Apple and the European Commission failed to reach agreement on Digital Markets Act interoperability terms for iOS and iPadOS; Apple's proposal, a "Trusted System Agent" framework paired with an 18-month exemption request, was rejected, and Siri AI will not ship on EU iPhones or iPads with the current release. Macs, Vision Pro, and Apple Watch are unaffected, because the DMA's gatekeeper designation covers iOS, iPadOS, Safari, and the App Store, not macOS, visionOS, or watchOS, so EU Mac users get Siri AI on the same timeline as everyone else. In China, regulators cleared select on-device Apple Intelligence features built with Alibaba's Qwen model, such as photo Clean Up, but Siri AI specifically was excluded from that approval. Cook told analysts China's Siri AI "needs more work going forward," describing it as being "at the starting stage."

This is a constraint that pure-software AI labs mostly do not face in the same form. A chatbot update can often ship everywhere at once; an assistant woven into a phone's operating system, reading on-screen content and personal data, runs into gatekeeper rules, data-localization requirements, and model-approval processes that differ by jurisdiction. Apple's hardware distribution, its biggest advantage in reaching billions of users, is also what exposes it to more regulatory checkpoints than a company shipping only a cloud app.

What "this fall" means competitively

Set against a field where frontier labs ship materially better models every few months, a headline consumer AI feature landing on a fixed fall date reads differently than it would have two years ago. Apple's bet is that hardware distribution and years of user trust in privacy matter more than being first with the newest model, and its financial results this quarter, a record revenue quarter regardless of Siri AI's status, are the evidence for that bet holding up so far. Whether "fall 2026" is fast enough is a judgment about how much AI capability the average user actually needs from their phone versus from a separate app, and that judgment will only be testable once Siri AI actually ships broadly. For teams and individuals not willing to wait on any single company's assistant timeline, model-agnostic tools like Metir AI offer a way to use the leading models available today directly, regardless of when any one vendor's own integration arrives.

The takeaway

Apple's Q3 FY2026 quarter shows a business in genuinely strong shape by conventional financial measures, a record June quarter, expanding profit, and continued iPhone strength, even as supply costs squeeze near-term margin and a headline AI feature stays several months out. The stock's reaction says investors are pricing both realities at once: a company executing well on what it already sells, and a company still being asked to prove its AI strategy works at the scale its distribution demands. The fall 2026 Siri AI launch, arriving unevenly across regions because of regulation as much as engineering, will be the next data point either side of that debate can point to.
