YUM · NYSE
Yum! Brands operates the KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut restaurant brands, generating revenue from its global restaurant portfolio and related brand operations. KFC and Taco Bell are currently the principal growth engines, while Pizza Hut has been softer and is the subject of a planned $2.7 billion sale. The company serves consumers through these restaurant chains and is expanding digital ordering, loyalty and operating capabilities, described as a nearly $9 billion digital engine. Yum reported $8.2 billion of FY2025 revenue and $1.6 billion of net income, up from $7.5 billion and $1.5 billion in FY2024.
Yum! Brands fell $2.60, or 1.73%, from $150.28 to $147.68 over the week. The stock initially rose, climbing to $157.00 on July 30 after second-quarter results showed an earnings beat and growth across operations excluding Pizza Hut, with Taco Bell providing particular strength. Management also maintained its long-term view, while the planned $2.7 billion Pizza Hut sale offered a portfolio-streamlining narrative. The shares then reversed sharply, falling to $153.28 on July 31 and giving back most of the earnings-driven gain by August 4. Investors appeared to weigh softer Pizza Hut performance and a recent U.S. food-safety issue that temporarily affected Taco Bell sales against the quarter’s positive results.
