Etsy operates an online marketplace connecting buyers with sellers of distinctive goods, and earns revenue from marketplace activity and advertising. Its business benefits when buyers return and sellers generate more gross merchandise sales (GMS); advertising provides an additional monetization stream. The supplied evidence does not break revenue out by business or product line. Etsy reports $2.9 billion of revenue and $0.2 billion of net income for FY2025, compared with $2.8 billion of revenue and $0.3 billion of net income for FY2024. Its customers include marketplace buyers and the sellers who list and promote products on the platform.
Etsy shares rose 0.85%, from $90.82 to $91.59 on the supplied weekly endpoints, after a sharp reversal within the period. The stock fell from $90.82 on Oct. 22 to $85.43 on Oct. 26, then recovered to $92.35 on Oct. 28 before easing to $91.59 on Oct. 29. The main company-specific catalyst was Etsy’s third-quarter report: earnings and revenue topped estimates, gross merchandise sales and advertising strengthened, active buyers returned to growth, and management forecast fourth-quarter GMS growth of 5%-7%. Trading volume jumped to 7.6 million shares on Oct. 28. Etsy also disclosed CFO Lanny Baker’s planned 2027 departure on Oct. 27. A dovish tint to the Fed’s decision supported broader markets on Wednesday, but Etsy’s larger move coincided with its earnings report.
